From basic research to clinical practice.
NeuroMate is the clinical spin-off of years of research at the Brain Institute (ICe), at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). A multidisciplinary team turned bench work (electrophysiology, signal processing, multimodal analysis of EEG with video and physiological signals) into a platform deployable in ICUs and outpatient clinics.
Development is hosted at the Brain Institute (ICe), in partnership with Metrópole Parque at the Digital Metropolis Institute (IMD). Each new version of the platform goes through clinical studies in the ICU at Maternidade Escola Januário Cicco (MEJC/UFRN) before being deployed in other ICUs and outpatient clinics.
Accessible neuromonitoring, anywhere in the world.
NeuroMate builds a low-cost platform, with open hardware and open-source software, designed to reach maternity units, ICUs, and research centers that today have no access to continuous multimodal neuromonitoring.
Every hour without continuous EEG in a neonatal ICU can mask subclinical seizures, early markers of neonatal encephalopathy, and the response to therapies such as hypothermia and anticonvulsants. With multimodal analysis, the platform correlates these brain signals with cardiorespiratory events and clinical context, supporting real-time decisions. Closing that gap is what matters most: mitigating avoidable harm and saving lives, from the neonatal ICU to chronic neurological follow-up.
Hardware, software, and AI, built together.
Three choices set NeuroMate apart. First: hardware, software, and AI developed by the same team, avoiding the cross-vendor discontinuities that compromise signal quality and latency. Second: multimodal analysis, with EEG, video, and physiological signals correlated in a single stream. Third: open licensing, so that the system can be audited, replicated, and adapted by other clinical and research groups.
